Library Staff


Lori Bruder-RES

Lori Bruder has been in education for 30 years and loves reading. You can find Lori at Roosevelt Elementary School. Her husband Steven is a High School Principal at South-O'Brien Schools. She has two children, Joe and Karlee. Her daughter Karlee is married to Simon and they have two children Noah, who is 4 years old and Everlee, who is 2 years old. Being a grandma is wonderful and she can’t wait to read and share with Noah and Everlee all the great books she read as a child.

Favorite Book Series: The Boxcar Children by 
Gertrude Chandler Warner (She loved that book so much as a child, she would check it out once a month!)

Linda Christensen-WHS

Linda Christensen has been working at Cherokee Schools for 10 years, first at CMS and most recently at WHS.  Her first Library "job" was when she attended school at Wilson Jr. High as a Library helper for Miss Hulda Engle.  Other Library jobs she's had were at the Curriculum Lab at UNI, as a Library Board Member at the Cherokee Public Library, and currently as a member of the Friends of the Library.  Her favorite times to read now are with her grandchildren.

Favorite childhood series: Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder and the Nancy Drew Series.

Favorite Adult series: William Kent Krueger books set in Northern Minnesota

Favorite books she still recommends to students: Watership Down by Richard Adams and To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

Lisa Sampson-CMS

Lisa Sampson has been with Cherokee Community School District since 2002. You can find Lisa primarily at Cherokee Middle School.  Lisa graduated from Boone, Iowa where she grew up and graduated from Buena Vista University with a degree in Social Science/Library Science. In her spare time Lisa loves to spend time with her husband, Kirk and two children,  Nolan (1st Lt. in the Army based at Fort Rucker, AL) and Benjamin (Senior at Buena Vista University).

Briana White-WHS

Briana White has been with Cherokee Community School District since 2015. You can find Briana primarily at the high school either in her classroom teaching English or the library. Briana graduated from Grace University with a double major in Religion and Secondary Education. Currently she is getting her master's in Library Studies through University of Northern Iowa. In her spare time she loves to spend time with her husband, Ryan and black lab, Titus. Some of her favorite hobbies is to tackle her "to be read pile," drink ample amounts of coffee, and decorate.

Renewals &
​Fines

Renewals

Cherokee School Library books and materials are checked out for a two-week borrowing period. If an item is not on hold it can be renewed for another two weeks!

Fines

If a checked out item is not returned within the two-week lending period the student will be charged per day of overdue depending on school location.

WHS: 10 cents/day

CMS: 5 cents/day

RES: no fine charged


*If a student damages or loses an item they are responsible for the cost of a new one.
